About the National Internship Accreditation Scheme
The National Internship Accreditation Scheme (NIAS) is Australia’s first independent internship accreditation program. Developed by Interns Australia in collaboration with employment specialists, employers, industry, government agencies, interns and students, the NIAS supports employers and interns to identify, commit to and create a culture of fair and high quality internship programs.
The aim of the NIAS
Due to be launched in late 2015, the NIAS aims to promote the value and importance of fair and quality internships through the recognition and accreditation of Australia’s best internships. It does this by:
- recognising and accrediting employers whose internships meet best practice standards
- providing employers with guidance on how to establish best practice internship programs which enable them to attract and recruit the best and brightest candidates
- providing prospective interns with confidence in the fairness and quality of an internship program through the seal of accreditation.
