About the National Fair Internship Pledge
The National Fair Internship Pledge (NFIP) is Australia’s first independent internship review and recognition program. Developed by Interns Australia in collaboration with employment specialists, employers, industry, government agencies, interns and students, the NFIP supports employers and interns to identify, commit to and create a culture of fair and high quality internship programs.
The NFIP is a world-first program designed to establish Australia as the world-leader in work-integrated learning and fair labour frameworks for young people.
The aim of the NFIP
Launched late 2015, the NFIP aims to promote the value and importance of fair and quality internships through the review and recognition of Australia’s best internships. It does this by:
- recognising and inviting employers whose internships meet best practice standards to take the Pledge
- providing employers with guidance on how to establish best practice internship programs, which enable them to attract and recruit the best and brightest candidates
- providing interns with confidence in the fairness and quality of an internship program through the NFIP seal
- promoting NFIP internships to establish an expectation of legal and quality internships in Australia.
